Class #10 "insect life" ( grammar) - Teacher Yesmin

teacher yesmin started the class doing an activity with the students. students made a circle and held hands, students had to close their eyes and the students who was in the middle started to press the hand of one of the students next to her and give the marker, then students continued past the marker like this and whe the teacher said "stop" they open their eyes and the students who had the marker had to past and write the name of an insect.



Teacher pasted on the whiteboard flashcards with the insects and name tape.he asked to the sudents to repeat after him. the he presented the question " How are they?" and expain the meaning of "are" & " is" 

then, students practiced doing forming sentences.

Class # 9 "Insects life" (vocabulary) - Teacher Fernando

teacher fernando pasted on the whiteboard pictures of some insect. teacher asked to the students to change spots, each spot had a strip of paper with the name of an insect, students had to try to the name of an insect in the correct picture.
Note: this activity was okay to introduce the vocabulary

then, teacher fernando cheked if the students had pasted the strips of paper corectly. After that, he showed the vocabulary and students repeated 3 times.


then he presented 3 questions those were,  what is your favorite insect?, what color is it? & what insect don't you like? then students repeat them 3 times.

then,teacher asked to the students to stand up and made a circle.  one students will had in the midle,each students represented an insect, teacher said the name of an insect and the stident who was in the midle had to look for that insect and touch the person who had that insect. 

( one of my classmete help to model the activity)

Guess the insect. students made 2 group. a member of each group past in front and teacher said to theme the name of an insect, students had to describe the insect, saying, his color, if he had antennes, and how many legs that insect had. and their classmates had to guess the insect. the group who guessed more insect was the winner.


Note: I really like the last activity, i think that studenst learn how described an insect.

Class # 8 Great outfit (reading) - Teachers Karla Rajo & Karla Pineda

Teacher Karla P. started the class presented to the students a rulet which had the name of a clothein each color space. Students had to play the rulet and they had to look for the item that the rulet had pointed and pasted it on the whiteboard.


Note: that was a great idea to review the previous vocabulary

Teacher Karla R. presented the topic pasting on the whiteboard flashcards with the items of clothing, she asked to each students if they remmembered the previous vocabulary. then she introduced the topic of the colors.


teacher asked to the stuedents if they remmebered some colors, then they practice 2 times.


  • Story. teacher Karla P. presented to the students a book which had a shor story about the topic. she read to the students once, then students read with her 3 times more.



then, teachers gave to the students a worksheet and litle book with the previous story. they had to complete the worksheet using the little book.

Note: I really like the book, it was creative and the story mentioned the vocabulary that was presented.


  • Bingo. teachers gave to the students a little piece of paper which had 6 different sentences about of 6 differents items. teacher has a little box from which she was taking little pieces of papers which had a sentence, students had to listen and look for the sentence that was mentioned in their page.


 if they had it, they had to marked it whith an X. the student who completed all the little page first was the winner. 


Note: these was a great class of reading, I think that students improved that skills in each activity that the teachers prepared.

Class #7 Great outfit (listening) - Teachers Hazel & Abi

Teachers Hazel (me) & Abigail

Teacher Abi started the class using a song. students made couples and teacher Abi gave to each couple the lyrics of the song in desorden and students had to listen the song first and look for the orden of the song. then teacher pasted on the withboard parts of the lyrics of the song in desorder, then students listen the song 2 times more and they had to organized the lyrics.



Teacher Hazel presented the topic, pasting on the withboard flashcards with the previous vocabulary and asking to the students if they remembered the 8 items. then students practices the pronounciation of each word 2 times. Then, teacher Hazel presented the questions "what is this? & what are these" and she explained the meaning of each word and how answer those question using "it's a and they.are"are. 
then students made couples and practice asking each other, using little shapes of the items of clothing.
  • Clothes line. teachers paste on aline of wool from side to side of the classroom, then teachers hunged little pictures of the 8 items already presented. (jeans, shoes, dress, etc) 

Students made 2 groups. Teacher Abi said an item of clothing and students had to touch that picture. who touched the picture first will get a point for their team.


Note: that activity was useful for 
recognition.





  • Competition clothing. students made 2 groups and made 2 lines in front of the whiteboard. Teachers put on the flour some clothes. teacher Hazel said an item and one member of each group had to go and put on the item that was mention.for example: teacher Hazel said "dress" and students had to look for the dress and put it on. the person who put it on first got a point fortheir team.

Note: students realy enjoyed that activity and they participate with enthusiasm.

Class #6 Great outfit (grammar) - Teachers Fatima & Vanessa

Teacher vane started the class asking to the students if they remembered the previous vocabulary.


  • Hangman. teacher Vane pasted on the whiteboard a face of a hangman, she asked to the students to say a letter and trying to guess the woard that was hidden.If the stustents found the word the will get a point. for each letter that they said wrong, teacher vane added a part of the body of the hangman.
( the words hidden were the vocabulary of the lesson)

Note: that was a useful idea to introduce the topic and the shape of the hangman was great.

After that, teacher Fatima presented the topic, showing to the students some flashcards of the previous vocabulary, then students practice the pronounciation of each word.



then, she present the verb "be" ( it´s a & they are) and she explained how use it. late, she ask to the students to past and write in each picture "it's a or they are" (dependen on the picture) to know if they fet the idea.
Note: I really like the flashcards, they were colorful and that help to the students to be focus. 


Thereafter, students make 3 groups, teacher asked to the students to stand up and make 2 lines, students had to be backwards, teacher said an item to a member of the pair, they had to make the draw quickly and show to their partner and that classmate had to guess the item. who guess first the word got a point.
Note: some of my classmate participate in the activity ,due to, the small number of students.



Class#5 Great outfit (vocabulary) - Teachers Giovanny & Georgina

Teacher Georgina satarted the class giving to the students an envelope which had a puzzle. student have to form the puzzle to discover what the topic will be about.

Teacher Giovanny presented the alphabet using printed letters and its respective pronounciation. the he presented the vocabulary that was: dress, skirt, t-shirt, shirt, cap, jeans, socks and shoes.
(the flashcards were printed.)
then he explained the pronounciation of each word.

After that students worked individual, each one had pictures of 8 items of clothing, teacher said a clothe and they had to look for the object that was mentioned.

then teachers pasted on the deskes around the classroom pictures of 8 items clothing and they said an object of those, and students had to look for the object that they listened.

  • Pictionary. For the last activity, students made 3 groups. a member of each group had to draw an object that the teacher showed and the others members of the group had to guess the object. 
(They were added some of my colleagues to complete the activity)

This was a very good class, the materials and the activities were great.

Class #4 My family( reading) - Teacher Yesmin

Teacher Yesmin started the class pasteing on the whiteboard flashcard and some verbs. in the second activity, teacher asked to the students to past to the whiteboard one by one, and pasted the correct verb to a picture, then students practiced some verbs

to the third activity, teacher showed to the students how they could create a sentencen, and he gave them an example using the pictures and the verbs. then, he asked to the students to past and write a sentence.

Class #3 My family(listening) - Teacher Fernando

Teacher Fernando started the class reviewing the previous vocabulary. he showed to the students the question who is she/he? and the corresponding answer.

 Then teacher Fernando asked to the students to past at the whiteboard and choose the correct spelling to one picture.

In the second activity, teacher Fernando remove some pictures and he pasted on the desks aroun of the classroom. He mentioned a family member and students had to look for the correct pidture.

  • Finger puppets. teacher fernando present to the students a familya finger puppets.and he reviewed the question who is she/he? and students had to answer.
then he asked to some students to past in the front and present their families using the finger puppets.
Note: children really liked the finger puppets, they were anxious to participate.

Class #2 My Family(grammar) - Teachers Karla Rajo & Karla Pineda

Students made a circle and pass the doll while the teacher played a music. the student who had the ball when the music stop, had to match the pictures with the vocabulary.


Teacher karla Present the topic, showing pictures and imphazise in the verb "to be" with the pronouns "he and she".
  • Collage. Students made 2 groups. they had to form a collage with pictures that the teacher gave them.

  • complete the sentence. students made 2 lines in front of the whiteboard. Each student had to complete a sentence according to the picture that the teacher showed.
     

  • Do what you listen, not what you see. students made a line in front of the whiteboard and the teacher said something like "rise your hands" while  she made a different gesture amd students had to do what they listen.

Class #1 My family - Teachers Hazel & Abigail

  • Family tree. Teacher Hazel (me) started the class,she  pasted a poster with a family tree with blanks spaces on the whiteboard. 

Students played the hot potatoe. teacher played a song and students had to pass the ball. 


When the music will stopped, the student who had the ball had to take a picture of a family member and try to put it in the correct place in the family tree.


  • Presentation of the topic. Teacher Abi pasted on the whiteboard flashcard of family members. she asked to the students to repeat after her to learn the correct pronunciation of the word. teacher asked to the students who is she/he? to know if they had lear the vocabulary.

When the students had already learned the vocabulary, teacher made a little activity. she removed one flashcard and asked to the students to repeat again, then she removed another flashcard and students had to repeat again, she continued like that and at the end the whiteboard was empty and student had to try to repeat again.
Note: this activity made more atractive the class and help to know if the students learn the vocabulary.
  • Look at me. teacher Hazel organized some desks in the classroom, each desk had an object that represent a member of a family, for example: the desk which had the word "father" had a tie, the desk which had the word "sister" had a teddy bear, the desk which had the word " brother" had a foami cap and etc. teacher named a family member and students had to look for it and wear the object. if the teacher said "brother" the students had to look for the desk which had that word and put on the foamy cap.
Note: this activity was useful to know if the students were able to recognize by listening.

  • Scramble words. teacher Abi asked to the students to sit down on the flour and make a circle. she gave them little pieces of paper with letters. she said a word and the students had to form the word. for example: if the teacher say "mother" they had to form that word with the letters.

Note: this activity is useful to practice writting. 
  • Memory game. teachers pasted on the whiteboard hidden pictures. the hiden pictures were the family member of the cartoon "phineas & pherb" each picture had a number from 1 to 16.
students took turns and they had to choose 2 numbers and try to find the pair.when they find the pair they had to answer the question who is she/he? and if they do it correctly they will get a point. the person who get more point will be the winner.

Note: this activity was useful to finish the class and they ejoyed it. Students really like activities in which they compete,
